Travelers Path Blocks
To get the movement speed, you have to walk on certain block type. Dirt path and polished blocks, slabs or stairs.

The path block may be hidden one block underground. It allows you to hide the block, but still have the speed effect.

Travelers Paths Overcharge
The auto path system will turn grass block into dirt path over time. The dirt_path will be visible after some walks. If you walk to much on the same path, it may turn into dirt, or mud.
